Introduction to Partnerships

In 2009, Denmark ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), thereby committing to promote research and the development of universal design. We take this commitment seriously and believe it is best achieved in partnership with others.

The Bevica Foundation works through targeted, strategic partnerships that support the foundation’s two strategic focus areas:

  1. To create attractive research and educational environments that promote knowledge about universal design
  2. To ensure that the Leave No One Behind agenda and the understanding of universal design are embedded as core values among decision-makers and across society in general.

The partnerships unfold the concept of universal design and deepen our understanding, both in breadth and depth, as we work with the frameworks that shape everyday life.

The Bevica Foundation's Partnerships

Through our partnerships, we explore and unfold the concept of universal design — both in practice and by strengthening knowledge about the concept at the educational institutions we collaborate with. Learn more about each partnership below.

Universal Design in Practice

Universal Design is about creating solutions that are accessible and usable for everyone, regardless of ability.

The Bevica Foundation works on concrete projects that translate knowledge about Universal Design into practice through initiatives within our partnerships. The focus is on integrating Universal Design into the frameworks that shape everyday life — promoting a more inclusive society and demonstrating that universal design is relevant across disciplines. The result is sustainable and innovative solutions that make it easier for everyone to participate fully in society.

Universal Design in education

Universal Design in education is about integrating inclusive principles into learning environments, teaching, and research.

The Bevica Foundation collaborates with design schools and universities to ensure that students and educators engage with solutions that are accessible and usable for everyone. The focus is on developing teaching methods that embrace diversity and strengthen the understanding of Universal Design as a central element of a sustainable future society. The result is study programmes that equip future professionals to create more inclusive and accessible frameworks for everyday life.

Our partnerships help us build knowledge

Our partnerships are an important part of The Bevica Foundations strategic work. They help raise awareness and deepen understanding of universal design in strategically important contexts, while also serving as a valuable source of insight into how universal design is created and applied in practice.
