Technical University of Denmark

The Bevica Foundation has since 2014 cooperated with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) to promote universal design in technological solutions. In 2019, this collaboration was formalized under the heading “Technology Leaving No One Behind”, which in its current form runs until 2030.

Under the heading Technology Leaving No One Behind, the partnership between DTU and the Bevica Foundation continues until 2030 with the aim of putting the project on the map as the Danish flagship for the development of technological solutions that, through education, research, events, partnerships, innovation and entrepreneurship, will contribute to a more inclusive society for future generations.

'Technology Leaving No One Behind' aims to promote inclusion and universal design as a natural part of the design development of technological solutions by the 2,500 engineering students. This happens both through the programme, where students across disciplines are taught universal design and accessibility, and through inclusion workshops in DTU Skylab, where students and researchers can get advice and guidance on the business potential of developing and testing universally designed solutions.

I am very... uplifted and touched by being in your company and environment. [...]... that solution-orientation that you and we have together around things that should be rethought and hasn't worked for years [...]. It's great to be part of that idea development!

Through the targeted work, the company Obital has developed the app 'Eyetell', which allows the eye to navigate and communicate on a screen entirely without using the fingers. Another company that is a product of the partnership is the company DrinkSaver, who have developed a spill-free glass that makes it easier to keep the beer in the cup when the music plays at this year's festivals. In 2024, the company won the acclaimed design award Red Dot Award, and the company has previously also received the Bevica Seed Grant as a back-kick to get their product wider to market.

You can read more about the Bevica Seed Grant, which is a concrete initiative of the partnership, and past winners further down the page.

The partnership works closely with another of the foundation's partners, the Association of Young People with Disabilities (SUMH), which continuously contributes with the user perspective to equip students to better design the inclusive technology of the future for all. SUMH, together with Danish Disability Organisations (DH), is also a member of the partnership's steering committee.

In 2022, DTU made a film about the partnership, which is rooted in DTU Skylab. You can watch the film here:
