Foreningen Folkemødet

The People's Meeting is not just a festival — it is a platform where democracy, conversation and the future of society are in focus. This is where politicians, business leaders, NGOs, citizens and government officials gather to discuss how we can shape a more sustainable and inclusive society. Therefore, the People's Meeting must be for everyone - regardless of their physical starting point.

The Bevica Foundation and Foreningen Folkemød have entered into an ambitious 5-year project collaboration, where together we will create a People's Meeting where there is room for everyone, and where universal design is the starting point for everything we put into the lake until 2028.

The ambition behind the collaboration is to create an equal and democratic festival with room for all, where universal design becomes the basic principle with an inclusive human vision when the People's Meeting runs its course.

The People's Meeting is a platform that brings together those who shape the framework for lived life for a conversation about our common society. These are politicians, business leaders, NGOs, citizens, government officials and anyone with an interest in debating current trends, issues and how to create a sustainable society.

An advisory board will be attached to the project, which will continuously review efforts, assess international efforts and ideas, and ensure professional knowledge about the implementation of universal design. The Advisory Board consists of a representative from Folkemødet and the Bevica Foundation as well as other relevant parties, including the Association of Young People with Disabilities, Egmont Højskolen, Boligcompaniernes Landsforening (BL), Danish Enterprise and the Knowledge Centre on Disability.

“Although, of course, I encounter different challenges when I go to Folkemødet, I prioritize going year after year. I do this because I learn a lot at Folkemødet - not only about the world I live in, but also about myself. I gain experience in applying my voice, and I am confirmed by the participants at the Folkemødet that my voice is just as important as everyone else's. As a young person with a disability, you may sometimes have doubts about it.

- William Korte, President of the Association of Young People with Disabilities (SUMH)
Young people with disabilities are to a lesser extent represented at Folkemødet for both professional, physical and social reasons. I have the opportunity to leave, and it is therefore important for me that I use my voice to express the enormous potential that lies in a diverse world, and therefore also in a diverse People's Meeting.”

- William Korte, President of the Association of Young People with Disabilities (SUMH)
