Universal design in architecture - the Nordic example in practice

Camilla Ryhl, Research Director at the Bevica Foundation, put universal design at the heart of a presentation for knowledge professionals from all over the world.
Here the question was explored: Are we missing out on a crucial potential in universal design to create better architectural quality and more sensuous experiences for all people?
Are we missing out on a sensory potential in universal design?
Based on his new book Universal Design in Architecture Camilla shared experiences and insights from conversations with 10 Danish and Norwegian architects about their understanding of universal design and the sensuous qualities of architecture. The presentation presented the results through Nordic architecture examples and showed how sensory experiences can be implemented and enhanced through the use of universal design.
The discussion was led by Valerie Fletcher, Executive Director at Institute for Human-Centered Design, which added a significant international perspective.
