In collaboration with DTU Skylab, the Bevica Foundation has in 2026 used Bevica Seed Grants to give a number of student startups at DTU the opportunity to test ideas, involve users, and translate the principles of universal design into tangible technology.
In 2026, Seed Grants were awarded to the following start-ups:
Visionar
Visionar is working on AI-based smart glasses for people with visual impairments and blindness. The glasses combine a camera with 3D depth sensing and are designed to help users detect obstacles and navigate their surroundings.
In 2026, Visionar received a total of DKK 46,000. from the Bevica Seed Grant to support the development of the solution, including further prototype and sensor development and collaboration with users.
Insight Technologies
Insight Technologies is also developing technology for people with visual impairments and blindness, but with a different technical approach. The team is working on a glasses-based solution designed to recognize surroundings and provide the user with information via audio.
Insight Technologies has received DKK 19,499 for the next phase of development.
Guidly
Guidly works to make museum experiences accessible to more people through an AI-based app that can adapt content to different needs and provide information about exhibits and museums via text, audio, and more.
Guidly has received DKK 20,000 from the Bevica Seed Grant to support a development and testing phase at the National Museum of Denmark.
Ally
Ally is developing a digital tool to support people after treatment for depression. Using data from sources such as smartphones and wearable devices, the solution monitors changes in activity, sleep, and phone usage to detect early signs of relapse.
With a Bevica Seed Grant of DKK 15,000, the team will strengthen user involvement with a particular focus on universal design.
Synoma
Synoma is working on developing an outdoor navigation app designed to make route planning, navigation, and public transport easier for people with visual impairments.
With DKK 28,500 from the Bevica Seed Grant, Synoma will test and further develop a system with customized maps in connection with the 2027 People's Meeting (Folkemødet).
Common to all these projects is the ambition to develop technology with people, not just for them. With these Seed Grants, universal design is integrated from the start as an essential part of the innovation process itself.
