Universal Design: A Society for All

Is it possible to create a society that has everyone in mind from the beginning? Universal design does away with the idea that people with special needs should have separate solutions.

Universal design builds on a diverse human vision and creates solutions that work for everyone — regardless of age, size, gender and functional level.

Camilla Ryhl, research director at the Bevica Foundation, introduces the concept of universal design in this article from the Sclerosis Society. The article sheds light on the origins of universal design, its human vision and its importance in achieving the world goals.

Camilla Ryhl points out that disability is still a blind spot in Denmark, which is why it is crucial to start here if we are to live up to our commitment to include everyone, which we have committed to through the SDGs and the overarching purpose of Leave No One Behind.
