A new survey shows that two-thirds of Danes do not know about the UN's Leave No One Behind agenda. The Bevica Foundation is now investigating whether people with disabilities are left behind in Denmark.

Behind the 17 brightly coloured squares that we recognise as the World Goals, hides the promise “Leave No One Behind.” All states that have signed up to the UN Global Goals have agreed that they will not leave anyone behind and that they will also “Reach the furthest behind first”.

Do the Danes know the agenda?

The SDGs are now an integral part of the political and public debate, but are the Danish population also aware of the Leave No One Behind agenda?
Do you know or have you heard of the following English term: “Leave No One Behind” in the context of the UN World Goals? ‍

Study shows low level of familiarity

Results from an attitude survey conducted for the Bevica Foundation's Universal Design Hub by the research company Moos-Bjerre show that only about 25% of the Danish population knows about the Leave No One Behind agenda, and about half of them are young people under the age of 25.
In the Bevica Foundation's Universal Design Hub, we are currently exploring opportunities and potentials to develop a documentation base linked to the SDGs and the Leave No One Behind Agenda, which examines whether people with disabilities are left behind in Denmark.

Sustainometer

The Sustainometer takes the temperature of Danes' attitude towards and prioritisation of the sustainability agenda. Every year Moos-Bjerre makes a Sustainometer measurement. The Sustainometer is a survey of a representative sample of Danes over the age of 15, which will be repeated annually in order to follow the evolution of Danes' priorities and attitudes towards sustainability.

The methodology behind the study

This study is based on a representative sample of the Danish population over 15 years of age. The sample consists of 1818 Danes and is weighed against the distributions of gender, age, region and education in the population.

The replies were collected by Norstat A/S during the period 17.02.21 — 27.02.21.
