Student Academy 2023: 'A Society Built for Every Body — Leaving No One Behind'

As part of the partnership in the official programme in the context of UIA World Congress of Architects organised the Royal Academy teaching programme: Student Academy 2023: 'A Society Built for Every Body — Leaving No One Behind'. The Student Academy aimed to bring together national and international architecture students in connection with the congress and give them a greater insight into theory, method and practice within the field of universal design.

In the course of teaching leading up to the congress, the 35 architecture students of more than 20 different nationalities created interactive installations in collaboration with volunteers from the Association of Young People with Disabilities (SUMH) that were exhibited at the congress and acted as conversation starters, meaning congress participants from all over the world to reflect on the Leave No One Behind theme and the relevance of social sustainable architecture for all bodily variations. A reflection the project manager and two students from the course also spoke in a radio feature at P1 Kulturen på DR.

How do we build a society for every body?
Based on the title for Student Academy 2023: 'A Society Built for Every Body — Leaving No One Behind', Bevica Foundation asked several congress participants across disciplines how we can create a society for all bodies.

Taken together, they call for us all to gain a basic understanding of human diversity.
