Let the Games Begin
Let the Games Begin - a tribute to the noble race of nations and the supreme power of the human body.
Experimentarium will show that sport is for everyone - regardless of functional ability. The annual theme LET THE GAMES BEGIN is based on the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
The year 2020 (postponed to 2021) is an Olympic year — also at the Experimentarium experience and science centre in Hellerup. LET THE GAMES BEGIN is an annual theme that combines a testing centre, a packed programme of events and an atmospheric Olympic city, which opens on top of the Experimentarium for the summer holidays.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN equates the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games. The goal is to create curiosity about the body's capabilities and inspire more movement. And show that sport is for everyone, disability or not.
In the testing center, children and adults can test themselves in various activities and be inspired by the exploits and everyday life of Olympic and Paralympic athletes. The Olympic City on the roof of the Experimentarium offers big-screen experiences from the Tokyo Games, guests and events. Among the many events of the year, a number of sports federations will also inspire with tastings on everything from fencing to wheelchair rugby.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN was officially inaugurated on 23 January 2020 by H.K.H. The Crown Prince at a ceremony at the Experimentarium.
Due to COVID19, the Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 and the annual theme was therefore extended until August 2021.
