Design that leaves no one in the lurch!
Design School Kolding will research and teach universal design and the UN's cross-cutting sustainability goal Leave No One Behind
Design School Kolding and the Bevica Foundation have joined forces to put universal design on the agenda. The aim is to give every student at the school the opportunity to learn how to design inclusively and for all people — whether they have a disability or not.
It is the design school's ambition that universal design and the Leave No One Behind agenda should become an integral part of the school's values, strategy and core narrative.
People with disabilities need to be able to live life on an equal footing with everyone else, and it is therefore crucial that the framework for life lived is designed so that everyone can participate. The aim is therefore that the value-based concept of universal design becomes a natural mindset of the students and that they see it as a lever to achieve the goals of the Leave No One Behind agenda.
The collaboration also includes user organizations that know the target groups and can contribute significant insights. Therefore, Danish Disability Organizations (DH) and the Association of Young People with Disabilities (SUMH) participate both in the steering group of the project and as co-actors in workshops, field studies and interviews that researchers and students will conduct.
