Inclusive Cities for The Mind: Rethinking Public Space for Cognitive Inclusion
Urban spaces are often designed for the neurotypical majority, leaving people with dementia and other neurodivergent conditions struggling to navigate and participate in daily life. Sebastian plans to investigate how cities can better accommodate cognitive and sensory diversity through inclusive design that promotes dignity, mobility, and social connection.
Sebastian will conduct his investigation at Happy Cities and Simon Fraser University’s DEMSCAPES project in Vancouver, as well as a comparative study in Tokyo to broaden the global perspective.
