Thomas Bredgaard is a professor of labour market policy and head of the Centre for Labour Market Research at Aalborg University (CARMA). Since 2018, Thomas has been head of the cross-institutional Research Center for Disability and Employment, which is being funded by the Bevica Foundation (www.fhb.aau.dk). The research center brings together researchers that study disability and employment and who want to find new ways to integrate and retain people with disabilities on the labour market.

Two-thirds of all people with mobility impairments who are in work are employed in a flexible job. Although studies show that employees, employers and job centres generally rate the scheme positively, there are also criticisms of the flexicurity scheme. In the project, we will examine how the flexible job market works and can be improved.

The article focuses on how people with disabilities can be more easily included in the labour market. This requires stronger interaction between job centres, employers and the jobseekers themselves — as well as knowledge, self-confidence and a better physical environment.
