“Inclusion in the labor market requires knowledge, access and self-confidence”

Thomas Bredgaard is Professor (PhD) in Labour Market Policy and Head of the Centre for Labour Market Research at Aalborg University (CARMA). Since 2018, Thomas has been head of the Interinstitutional Research Centre for Disability and Employment, which is supported by the Bevica Foundation. The research center brings together researchers who study disability and employment and want to find new ways to integrate and retain more people with disabilities in the labor market.

Disability and Employment Research Centre

Two-thirds of all people with mobility impairments who are in work are employed in a flexible job. Although studies show that employees, employers and job centres generally rate the scheme positively, there are also criticisms of the flexicurity scheme. In the project, we will examine how the flexible job market works and can be improved.

The article focuses on how people with disabilities can be more easily included in the labour market. This requires stronger interaction between job centres, employers and the jobseekers themselves — as well as knowledge, self-confidence and a better physical environment.
