At the Award Show, you will meet some of the most promising upcoming talents in universal design, when the finalists of the Bevica Scholarship Programme pitch their projects live on stage before the international jury selects the winners.

You’ll gain insights and inspiration on how universal design can be translated into practice and contribute to inclusion and diversity in a society built on equality for all.

There will also be opportunities to network with others who share an interest in universal design and to bring home new knowledge.

The programme will be moderated by Moussa Mchangama.

We look forward to welcoming you to an inspiring afternoon of new knowledge and reflection.

Preliminary Program (changes may occur):

12:30: Arrival, coffee and cake in the atrium

13:00: Showstart in the auditorium: Welcome by moderator Moussa Mchangama and musical performance by Carl Emil Petersen w. performative interpreter Mia Maja Holst Manstrup.

13:30: Finalists pitch their projects live in front of the audience and jury. Their presentations will touch upon topics ranging from political architecture to AI for disaster relief, performance and dance, sports, and IT. Scheduled breaks will be included.

15.30: Special announcement by Thomas Sinkjær, Chair of the Board, Bevica Foundation

16.00: Panel Discussion

17.00 Award Ceremony and closing remarks by Thomas Sinkjær, Chair of the Board, Bevica Foundation

17.30: Reception with bubbles and canapés

18.30: Event concludes

The debate will feature Bo Rygaard, one of Denmark’s most influential chairmen; Naima Yasin, Head of Secretariat at SAGA; Marianne Thellersen, Senior Vice President for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at DTU; and Christian Lykkeby Olsen, Impact Manager at the Paralympic Committee and Paralympic athlete.

The debate will be moderated by debater and author Moussa Mchangama and further framed by Caroline Casey, founder of The Valuable 500, an organization that brings together 500 of the world’s most influential CEOs to advance disability inclusion. Among its members are the CEOs of Apple, Microsoft, and Google.

Together, they will set the stage for a debate on how our shared language and representation of people with disabilities influence the path toward a more inclusive society. The panel will also explore what new knowledge is needed to create a society that can embrace more people with more diverse bodies.


What's at stake?

Students compete for a grand prize of 350.000 kr.

Lecturers compete for two main prizes of 130.000 kr. each.

In addition to the three main prizes, travel grants of 30.000 kr. each will be awarded.

The winners are obligated to travel abroad to investigate their chosen project, bringing back new knowledge on universal design to Denmark.

Who is the jury?

The Bevica Scholarship Jury is interdisciplinary and consists of internationally recognized experts from academia or practice within the core themes of the Bevica Scholarship: universal design, the Leave No One Behind agenda, inclusion, disability, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. What is the Bevica Scholarship Programme?

In the Bevica Scholarship Programme, students and lecturers work to explore an issue that applies universal design within the participant's academic framework. The aim is for their projects to help create a more inclusive society for all. Read more about the Bevica Scholarship Programme here.

Language: Please note that the programme will be conducted in English.
Parking: Paid parking is available in the underground car park at Industriens Hus, including accessible parking spaces.
Buses: Routes 5C and 2A, as well as a long line of other buses, stop near Industriens Hus on either Vesterbrogade or H.C. Andersens Blvd.
Trains: Nearest s-train stations are Hovedbanegården and Vesterport station.  
Metro: Nearest station is Rådhuspladsen.
