Qualifications

Emil Falster is a Research Associate at the Bevica Foundation's Universal Design Hub.

He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration (Cand.scient.adm.) and a PhD in Social Sciences from Roskilde University, where he specialized in Disability Studies and Childhood Studies.

He has previously worked at the Ministry of Social Affairs in the field of disability and has since devoted his career primarily to disability research — both qualitative and quantitative. For example, he has developed and conducted research projects on children and young people with disabilities, focusing on how different understandings of disability either promote or inhibit opportunities for participation.

His research interests span widely across the field of disability and include studies of disability policy, inequality, ableism, and societal conceptions of the human being in the welfare state. Emil has contributed to the book Life with a Mobility Disability – Children and Young People's Perspectives and is the author of Ableism — Power, Human Conceptions, and the Myth of the Normal Body, published as part of the Bevica Foundation’s project on the concept of ableism in a Danish context.

Role in Bevica Foundation's Universal Design Hub

Emil develops and implements researchprojects related to the Bevica Foundation's strategy with a special focus onsocial science research. Based on his research knowledge in disability studies,living conditions, participation opportunities and human vision in the welfaresociety, he contributes to qualifying the Bevica Foundation's strategic effortsand the hub's knowledge base.

He also gives knowledge presentations onuniversal design, ableism and disability understandings, and in particular forpublic authorities, civil society organisations, interest organisations andresearch and education institutions.

Responsibilities in the Bevica Foundation's Universal Design Hub

Emil's responsibilities in the BevicaFoundation are primarily focused on social science and sociological research.He develops and implements research projects that contribute directly to theFoundation's strategy. He also disseminates his own and others' research intopractice.
