Design School Kolding wins two international awards for groundbreaking project that uses technology and universal design to create inclusive fashion for all body types.

Design School Kolding has received two international awards at the Global Fashion Conference 2024 for the research project Me-You-Us that paves the way for greater representation of different body types in the fashion industry. The project uses body scanning via smartphones and digital prototyping to develop inclusive fashions -- including clothing for wheelchair users. Based on the scans, clothing was designed with velcro openings, for example, to ensure comfort in a sitting position and to make it easier to take the clothes off and on.

Design School Kolding has worked closely with SUMH about the project, which shows how universal design and technology can break with the fashion industry's standard goals and create functional and personalized fashion for all body types. The recognition highlights the School of Design's pioneering work for a more inclusive and representative fashion.
