Skylab Makerchallenge is a 3-day student challenge, where students design a solution to a real life case and in the end presents a working prototype and a pitch. The winning team receives the price of 7.500 dkk to further develop and test their idea! This February the program will run for the first time in DTU Skylab together with The Copenhagen metro and Tecnhology Leaving Noone Behind focusing on inclusive design of the coming M5 line. The students will redesign the metro trains’ handles so that they are accessible to everyone avoiding falls for passengers no matter their ability.
Who can join?
30 students: The programme is open to all students across universities, however DTU students will be prioritised first. There is no specific knowledge required, however students must bring motivation and curiosity to work innovatively with the case in an interdisciplinary team. Students are admitted to the event based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Why join?
Design and build a working prototype in interdisciplinary teams to help make the future Metro accessible for all, while gaining hands-on skills in pretyping and prototyping, developing innovation capabilities, exploring Skylab’s workshops and staff, collaborating across study lines, connecting with industry partners, and building new friendships and networks.
