The Healing Power of Dance: Designing Inclusive Movement for All Bodies and Minds
Mental health challenges are rising rapidly worldwide, especially among young people. While dance has proven therapeutic benefits, it is rarely designed with accessibility in mind, often excluding those with cognitive or physical disabilities.
In this project, Nina explores how dance can be reimagined through the lens of Universal Design to become an inclusive and empowering tool for mental health recovery. By embedding herself in diverse dance settings from clinical dance therapy with special needs children in Los Angeles, to inclusive professional dance companies in the UK and Australia, to traditional community dance in Ghana, Nina will gather a wide spectrum of inclusive practices that redefine who dance is for and how it can heal.
