Universal Performance Design: Towards an inclusive and accessible Danish cultural landscape
Article 30 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities affirms the right of persons with disabilities to participate equally incultural life, yet the contemporary Danish cultural landscape continues to exclude disabled individuals by designing theatre and art as abled-body experiences.
This project investigates how the principles of Universal Design can be embedded into the artistic creation of performance-design to dismantle these barriers, ensuring that Denmark lives up to the commitment to Leave No One Behind in the Danish cultural landscape.
Through fieldwork and internships in the UK, Canada, and Australia, Ida will examine access-driven theatre-making processes through qualitative and practice-led research methods, working with leading theatre institutions and inclusive arts practitioners.
