Learning from Inclusive and Intergenerational Typologies of Elderly Care in Japan

Challenging conventional models of care, Bushra Tellisi investigates how inclusive and intergenerational design typologies from Japan can inform more age-inclusive environments in Denmark. Rather than relying solely on family or state-driven care, she looks to a “third space” of care - grounded in human connection, shared spaces, and inclusive design.

By studying Japanese initiatives such as Fukushi Gakudan, the Restaurant of Mistaken Orders, Long House with an Engawa, and Care Yoshikawa, Bushra aims to translate lessons from Japanese elderly care into Danish community contexts that reduce social isolation and support people of all ages and abilities.
